Can't Imagine Giving Up Sugar For One Day? Try One Whole Year!
Have you ever wondered what effects sugar has on your body? We’re not just talking about your waistline either, although that can be largely affected too!A woman by the name of Eve O. Schaub noticed how lack luster her family had become. They were tired and sick all the time. At first she just believed that, like everyone else in our nation, they were leading busy lives and it was taking its toll on them.Schaub decided that she and her family were going to cut all added sugar from their diets for one year. She felt that this undertaking would be a grand adventure and wrote about their experiences in her book, Year of No Sugar: A Memoir.

Once we started looking we found sugar in the most amazing places: tortillas, sausages, chicken broth, salad dressing, cold cuts, crackers, mayonnaise, bacon, bread, and even baby food. Why add all of this sugar? To make these items more palatable, add shelf life, and make packaged food production ever cheaper.

Schaub challenged her family (husband and two young daughters) to join her in a year of abstention from added sugar and chronicled their trials and triumphs. They did eat fruit, but they did not eat honey, molasses, maple syrup, agave or fruit juice. They also excluded fake sugar or sugar alcohols from their diet.

Even before the year was up, the results were pretty amazing. Pretty amazing indeed!
